The Hubble Constant from Sze Measurements in Low-redshift Clusters
نویسنده
چکیده
We present a determination of the Hubble constant from measurements of the Sunyaev-Zeldovich Effect (SZE) in an orientation-unbiased sample of 7 z < 0.1 galaxy clusters. With improved X-ray models and a more accurate 32-GHz calibration, we obtain H0 = 64 +14 −11 ± 14syskmsec Mpc for a standard CDM cosmology, or H0 = 66 +14 −11 ± 15syskm sec Mpc for a flat ΛCDM cosmology. The random uncertainty in this result is dominated by intrinsic CMB anisotropies, and the systematic uncertainty is chiefly due to uncertainties in the X-ray spectral models. The implications of this result and future prospects for the method are discussed.

Determining the Geometry and the Cosmological Parameters of the Universe through SZE Cluster Counts
We study Sunyaev-Zel’dovich Effect (SZE) cluster counts in different cosmologies. It is found that even without the full knowledge of the redshift distribution of SZE clusters, one can still readily distinguish a flat universe with a cosmological constant from an open universe. We divide clusters into a low redshift group (with redshift z ≤ 0.5) and a high redshift group (with z ≥ 1), and compu...
متن کاملMeasuring the Hubble Constant with the Sunyaev-Zel’dovich Effect
Combined with X-ray imaging and spectral data, observations of the Sunyaev-Zel’dovich effect (SZE) can be used to determine direct distances to galaxy clusters. These distances are independent of the extragalactic distance ladder and do not rely on clusters being standard candles or rulers. Observations of the SZE have progressed from upper limits to high signal-to-noise ratio detections and im...
متن کاملRe-examination of the Hubble Constant from the Sunyaev-Zel’dovich Effect: Implication for Cosmological Parameters
We performed a systematic and comprehensive estimate of the Hubble constant H0 via the Sunyaev-Zel’dovich temperature decrement and the X-ray measurements for clusters up to the redshift z = 0.541, with particular attention to its dependence on the density parameter Ω0, and the cosmological constant λ0. The resulting values of H0 are largely consistent with that derived from the Cepheid distanc...

متن کاملOn the Possible Variations of the Hubble Constant with Distance
Current measurements of the Hubble constant H0 on scale less than ∼ 100 Mpc appear to be controversial, while the observations made at high redshift seem to provide a relatively low value. On the other hand, the Hubble expansion is driven by the matter content of the universe. The dynamical analysis on scale of a few ∼ 10 Mpc indicates that the matter density Ω0 is only ∼ 0.2–0.3, which is sign...
